Artist Statement:
Ever since she started calling San Francisco her home last year, Lauren is in her studio almost every day. Her ties to childhood and nature fuel many of her pieces. Some start as poems, others are purely a reach towards the heart of the imaginary. Influenced by the techniques of her Nana and Boppie, Lauren pushes the limits of representing color as it is seen in the outside world. Fluorescent pinks and oranges are consistent in many of her paintings. While it’s not always clear what feeling is on the canvas, you are invited to join the exploration of a universe that would make any young girl dance in whimsy.
