Mario Pires Cordeiro (MPC) was born in 1975, Lisbon (Portugal), lived in London (United kingdom) over 12 years and in 2015 moved to San Francisco. Pires Cordeiro’s artwork has been developed around a verity of identities of color interlinking an interest in both a formal and cultural meaning behind color in contemporary society. He has a diverse practice, which spans drawing, sculpture, painting, video and installation. He often engages color forecast’s methodologies, exploring concepts of the ephemerality of color trends; such Higher (commissioned by London Olympics 2012) was inspired by color samples collected all around London intended to catch the color identity of the city. He was awarded an MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design and completed two years of doctoral research about Color Trends in Fine Arts at University of the Art of London. His work is part of both private and public collections in United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Spain, and Belgium.
